This patient came to see me after a failed reconstruction at a prestigious NYC cancer institution.
Because of her history of prior radiation, I performed bilateral latissimus flaps and placement of silicone gel implants.
The lower portion of her right breast skin was so thin it was not usable, so I opted to incorporate the skin of her back on the right side instead (latissimus flap of skin and muscle).
I kept her reconstructed nipples as per her request.
She loves her result as much as we do!
This amazing patient came to see us with stage 1 right breast cancer. She elected for a right mastectomy and underwent tissue expander and eventual smooth round silicone gel implant reconstruction.
For her left side, she elected for an augmentation/mastopexy for symmetry.
Nipple reconstruction results to be posted shortly!
This former schoolteacher came to see me with concerns of left breast tightness and pain.
I diagnosed her with capsular contracture and, because her implants were over 30 years old, revised both breasts.
I performed bilateral capsulectomies and removal and replacement of silicone gel implants.
On her left side, I placed acellular dermal matrix. Her implants are different sizes as she has native right breast tissue.
Her capsular contracture has been corrected and her complaints are completely resolved.
This patient traveled from Florida for her breast cancer care. She required a right breast lumpectomy for DCIS located behind her right nipple. The breast surgeon and I performed an oncoplastic reduction of her right breast (taking her nipple as it was close to her cancer margin) and I performed a left breast lift / small reduction at the same time for symmetry.
She did not elect for nipple reconstruction as she was eager to rejoin her volleyball league!
This wonderful patient of mine elected for bilateral mastectomies after biopsies (see prior scars) revealed bilateral breast cancer. She previously had breast augmentation prior to her mastectomy.
Because of the location of her biopsy scars, I carefully designed her mastectomy flaps with the breast oncologist to make sure we could safely take her nipples and still have enough skin for closure without tension.
Her final results show a very similar size and great symmetry about 3 months after her tissue expander to implant reconstruction. Her scars will continue to fade with time.
