NONSURGICAL FACIAL REJUVENATION

(BOTOX & FILLERS)

The Facts:

Neuromodulators (Botox) and filler (Juvederm) injections are the most common non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed in America. They are fast, effective, and can look great when performed by a skilled practitioner.

Dr. Parcells prides herself on being able to give her patients a natural, “fresh face” look by softening wrinkles of the face, filling in areas of volume loss, and preventing or reversing signs of aging.

Let’s Talk Botox:

Neuromodulators (Botox) smooth out the muscles of the face. This technique is especially powerful for erasing wrinkles in the forehead, crow’s feet (fine lines around the eyes) and angry “11” lines between the eyes.  These medications can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating.

Common Questions:

  1. Who is a good candidate for this procedure?

This operation is great for women and men who are looking to soften the wrinkles of the face and prevent and reverse signs of aging.

  2. How long does the procedure take?

Dr. Parcells understands your time is valuable.  The first time you try a nonsurgical treatment in our office, plan to spend 30 minutes in the office to get an in-depth facial analysis, pre-procedural photographs and recommendations regarding your treatment. Subsequent visits can be as quick as 15 minutes to accommodate your lunch break or other obligations.

  3. Is the procedure painful?

The injection stings a bit but is relatively quick and tolerable. For patients who are apprehensive we recommend coming a few minutes early to have some local numbing cream applied to the area.

  4. Are there any post-procedure restrictions?

For most patients, Dr. Parcells asks you to refrain from wearing makeup for a few hours and avoid other treatments (facials) for a few days after the procedure. Depending on your medical history Dr. Parcells may make additional recommendations.

  5. How long should I expect results to last?

For most patients, Botox lasts approximately 3-4 months. In some patients, particularly in those who have received a few treatments, results can last even longer, which may be a result of the body regenerating more collagen over time.

Let’s Talk Fillers:

Fillers, including Juvederm, Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella, among others, are FDA approved biomaterials that add subtle volume to the face. They can be used to fill in deep wrinkles in the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Fillers can also be used to augment the fullness of the lips and improve projection of cheekbones.

Common Questions:

  1. Who is a good candidate for this procedure?

Like Botox, this operation is great for women and men who are looking to soften the wrinkles of the face and prevent and reverse signs of aging. However, it does not paralyze the muscle. Instead, the filler is made of hylauronic acid that adds or restores volume and contours the face to achieve a youthful appearance.

The injection may be mildly uncomfortable, and for patients who are apprehensive we recommend coming a few minutes early to have some local numbing cream applied to the area. The injectable also has a local numbing agent that is introduced along with the filler, so patients are comfortable post-procedure.

  4. Are there any post-procedure restrictions?

Expect swelling to the affected area for a day or two after the procedure. Depending on your medical history Dr. Parcells may make additional recommendations.

  5. How long should I expect results to last?

Most hyaluronic-acid based fillers, such as Juvederm, last between 6 months and a year. In some patients, particularly in those who have received filler in the past, results can last even longer.
